Our Initiatives

Transportation

Your donation helps older Bethlehem adults live independently for a longer time by assisting the Town in purchasing the cars and vans that volunteers use to take older adults to:

  • Medical appointments: check-ups, exams, chemo treatments, dialysis, and infusions

  • Grocery stores: Hannaford, Price Chopper, Walmart, and Trader Joe’s

  • Social events & programs

  • Daycare, hairdresser and barber

  • Voting on a prearranged basis

  • Other non-medical, as scheduling allows: DMV, bank, pharmacy,  visits with loved ones in hospitals or skilled nursing facilities

Every gift funds a ride, a meal, social connection, or a warm night for a neighbor, right here in Bethlehem, NY.

Social Events

Your generous donation helps keep Bethlehem’s older adults connected, engaged, and active by supporting a variety of social events, educational opportunities, and enriching programs, including:

  • Health & Wellness lecture series

  • Education presentations

  • Workshops & classes

  • Dances, concerts & live entertainment

  • Museums, cultural attractions & theater outings

  • Boat rides, train excursions & other group trips

  • Other social events, activities & community experiences

Volunteers

Volunteers are the backbone of the programs delivered by the Town of Bethlehem Senior Services. Without them, the programs would not be as successful.

We fund:

  • Training programs for all volunteers & equipment

  • Bi-annual recognition dinner

Emergency Heating Fund

On a case-by-case basis, a small portion of your donation may help us fund minimal requests from Bethlehem Senior Services social workers who have become aware of a senior resident’s emergency heating needs.
